Castle Howard
Probably best known for providing the lavish setting to Brideshead Revisited, Castle Howard was built for the 3rd Earl of Carlisle by Baroque architect Van Brugh, and has been the home of the Howard family for more than 300 years. Today, the family and estate welcome brides and grooms to enjoy the beautiful house and grounds on their special day, at the most spectacular wedding venue location in Yorkshire.
From late afternoon, you can enjoy exclusive use of Castle Howard’s romantic interiors and beautifully landscaped grounds for photographs second to none. Exchange your vows under the fabulous painted dome of the Great Hall, in the pavilion known as The Temple of The Four Winds, or in the Boat House. Then start the celebrations with a champagne and canapé reception in the Great Hall or overlooking the Atlas Fountain outside, or by the side of the lake in the Boat House. Your guests can discover the art and treasures of the House on a short tour of five more delightful rooms, before enjoying a delicious home-cooked dinner of Yorkshire’s best local produce served in the Long Gallery, or for smaller parties, the Grecian Hall. Finally, dance the night away in this most elegant setting. Castle Howard can cater for up to 200 guests in the House itself; larger weddings can be accommodated on our marquee site. The estate is only a short drive away from York but a world away from modern England.
